FACILITIES

Booker Institute of Cosmetology has three locations to serve you. Booker Institute of Cosmetology-Hudsonville is conveniently located at 2460 Chicago Drive in Hudsonville, Michigan. Booker Institute of Cosmetology-Muskegon is located at 1989 Lakeshore Drive in Muskegon, Michigan, and our Holland location is at 170 Veterans Drive, Holland, Michigan. These locations are readily accessible to students from all communities in West Michigan.

All of Booker Institute of Cosmetology's facilities are up to date. Students will have access to the best cosmetology equipment available including the finest chairs, sinks, dryers, perm areas, and classrooms. A lounge is available to our students as well as locker space and plenty of free parking.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants to Booker Institute of Cosmetology are required to have a High School Diploma, a General Equivalence Diploma (G.E.D.) or proof of a 9th grade education in order to enroll. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Because class size is limited to provide maximum assistance to each student, early registration is encouraged. There is a $35 registration fee to offset administrative costs.

THE STUDENT

UNIFORMS

Booker Institute of Cosmetology requires students to wear a jacket; either a white, cream, black or grey shirt (with a collar) and black pants (or skirt); and black shoes. The cost of the uniform is the responsibility of the student. Jackets are included in the kit fee.

MISCELLANEOUS COSTS

Costs not payable to Booker Institute of Cosmetology include:

Any optional equipment that is not necessary for a course but which appeal to the student;

A $15 State of Michigan Registration fee at the beginning of the program;

A $144 examination fee at the completion of the program;

Any Excess Hour Charges** by the end of the course.

PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE

Cosmetology schools are prohibited by law to guarantee employment. Therefore, Booker Institute of Cosmetology has not made and will not make any guarantees of employment or salary upon graduation. However, we will post job openings from local hair and nail salons in our Student Breakroom. Graduates of Booker Institute of Cosmetology will have access to the postings after graduation. Current Booker Institute of Cosmetology employment figures show that every graduate has an average of 2 to 5 job offers.

ATTENDANCE

Booker Institute of Cosmetology offers flexible scheduling to all students. The scheduling options are due to student and clientele growth at Booker Institute of Cosmetology, as well as a need to have our students more connected to the real world of the beauty industry and how services are practiced in this profession. Please check each course description on this site for exact scheduling options.

TARDINESS

Students are expected to clock in and be ready for class by their scheduled start time. In striving to prepare students for success in the work place, Booker Institute of Cosmetology will require excellent attendance and promptness. Attendance records are part of a student's permanent file.

GRADING SYSTEM AND TESTS

Students are graded on a weekly basis with all practical assignments graded by the instructor in charge. A minimum of 75% on all tests and 85% on all composite exams is required.

**Excess Hour Charges are assessed when students exceed the allowed absences at $3 per hour.
